We built Privnotse.com because we believe that private communication should be simple, secure, and available to every person on the planet — without cost, without complexity, and without compromise.

About Privnotse — Our Mission to Make Digital Privacy Accessible to Everyone

Privnotse.com was founded in Zurich, Switzerland — a country with a centuries-long tradition of privacy protection and some of the strongest data protection laws in the world. Our founders, a team of cryptography engineers and privacy advocates, recognized a critical gap in digital communication: there was no simple, free, and truly secure way for ordinary people to send a message that wouldn't be permanently stored somewhere on the internet. Email providers archive every message. Chat applications back up conversations to the cloud. Even services that claim to offer "disappearing messages" often retain metadata, logs, or backups that can be accessed by the company, law enforcement, or hackers. We wanted to build something fundamentally different — a communication tool with a zero-knowledge architecture where even we, the operators, cannot access the content of your messages. The result is Privnotse.com: a platform that lets anyone create an encrypted, self-destructing note in seconds. No account required. No personal information collected. No message stored after it's been read. Our AES-256 encryption ensures that your note is protected during transit and at rest, and our automatic destruction mechanism guarantees that it ceases to exist the moment it's been viewed. Our commitment to privacy goes beyond technology. We are headquartered in Switzerland specifically because Swiss privacy laws provide some of the strongest protections for user data in the world. We do not monetize user data because we don't collect any. We do not serve targeted advertisements because we have no data to target with. Our business model is built on the principle that privacy is a right, not a product to be sold. Since our launch, Privnotse has been used by journalists protecting sources, healthcare professionals sharing patient data, legal teams transmitting privileged communications, IT administrators distributing credentials, and millions of everyday people who simply want to keep their private messages private. We are proud to serve users in over 190 countries and to have facilitated millions of secure, ephemeral communications. Looking ahead, our team continues to invest in advancing our encryption technology, improving our platform's accessibility, and advocating for stronger digital privacy protections worldwide. We believe that the future of communication is ephemeral — that messages should exist only as long as they're needed and then disappear completely. Privnotse.com is leading that future, one self-destructing note at a time. Thank you for trusting us with your privacy. It's a responsibility we take seriously every single day.

The Technology Behind Privnotse — How We Protect Your Messages

At the core of Privnotse.com is a sophisticated yet elegantly simple security architecture designed to ensure that your private messages remain truly private from the moment you type them until the instant they're permanently destroyed. When you create a note on Privnotse, the following process occurs: First, your message is encrypted directly in your browser using AES-256 encryption — the same standard used by governments and military organizations worldwide to protect classified information. The encryption key is generated randomly and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. Instead, it becomes part of the unique URL fragment (the portion after the # symbol), which means it exists only in the link you share and is never sent to our backend systems. The encrypted note is then transmitted to our servers over a TLS 1.3 secured connection, where it is stored in an encrypted state. At this point, even if someone were to gain unauthorized access to our servers, they would find only encrypted data that is mathematically impossible to decrypt without the key — a key that exists only in the link you shared with your recipient. When your recipient clicks the link, their browser retrieves the encrypted note from our servers and uses the key embedded in the URL fragment to decrypt it locally. The decrypted message is displayed in their browser and exists only in their device's memory. Simultaneously, our servers permanently delete the encrypted note. There is no backup, no archive, no recovery mechanism. The note is gone. This zero-knowledge architecture means that at no point in the process does Privnotse have the ability to read your message. We never see the encryption key. We never see the plaintext content. We are technically and architecturally incapable of accessing your private communications, even if compelled by legal authority — because the data simply does not exist in a readable form on our systems. Additional security features include optional password protection, which adds a second layer of encryption requiring the recipient to enter a password before the note can be decrypted. We also offer configurable expiration times, allowing you to set a note to self-destruct after a specified period even if it hasn't been read. And our notification system can alert you when your note has been opened, so you know your message has been delivered and destroyed. All of this happens seamlessly behind a clean, intuitive interface. You don't need to understand cryptography to use Privnotse. You just need to type a message and share a link. We handle the rest — the encryption, the secure storage, the automatic destruction — so you can focus on what matters: communicating privately and securely.
